HOW TO REACH

Phuket is served by the Phuket International Airport, the third busiest airport in Thailand. Located in the north of Phuket, this airport sees the most number of international arrivals from Asia Pacific and Europe. The airport is connected to various cities across the world, such as Abu Dhabi, Melbourne, Seoul, Manila, Singapore, Beijing, etc. and also to Thai cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Udon Thani, etc. Major airlines serving this airport include Dragonair, Emirates, Etihad Airways, Korean Air, SilkAir, Thai Airways, Tigerair, Air China and many more.

There are no trains to Phuket. The nearest one can travel by train is to Surat Thani, which is 3-4 hours from Phuket by bus. Many trains go from Bangkok’s central station and head south all the way to Singapore. The station closest to Surat Thani is the Phun Phin railway station. Ferry services connect Rassada Pier in Phuket Town to Ko Phi Phi Island. There are speedboats from/to Ko Racha (45min), Phi Phi (1 – 1.5hr), the Similan Islands (about 3hr) and other islands.

Buses are one of the most efficient ways to get to Phuket. There are regular intercity and public buses (air-conditioned and non-air conditioned) that go directly from Bangkok’s Southern Terminal Station to Phuket. The overnight buses are very comfortable and are thus the most popular choice, especially since the journey takes around 12-14 hours. There are also private buses that leave from Khaosarn Road. The government-run VIP buses are the safest and most efficient.
